1. Who we are

SongForYou is a trading name of Aerovision, a business registered in Ireland under the Registration of Business Names Act 1963.

We are the data controller for any personal information you provide through songforyou.ie. We are subject to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts.

2. What information we collect

When you commission a song, we collect:

• Your name and email address
• Information about the person the song is written for — their name, relationship to you, gender, occasion, and their story as you tell it to us
• Your musical preferences — style, themes, tempo and tone
• Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details
• Your marketing preferences — whether you'd like to receive updates and offers from us

When you visit a song delivery page, we collect:

• A device fingerprint (an anonymous identifier based on your browser and device settings)
• Your approximate timezone and screen size
• How many times you played the song and whether you listened to the end
• The referrer — how you found the page (e.g. a shared link)

We do not collect your precise location, IP address, or any personally identifiable information from song delivery page visits.

3. Why we collect it and our legal basis

• To fulfil your order — we need your name, email and song details to write and deliver your song. Legal basis: contract.
• To process payment — handled by Stripe on our behalf. Legal basis: contract.
• To follow up if you don't complete your order — if you enter your email but don't pay, we may send one or two gentle reminders. Legal basis: legitimate interest. You can opt out at any time by replying to the email.
• To send you marketing emails — only if you explicitly opt in. Legal basis: consent. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• To track song plays — so we can show commissioners how far their song has travelled. Legal basis: legitimate interest. Data is anonymous and aggregated.

4. Who we share your information with

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate SongForYou:

• Stripe — payment processing. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant and processes your card details securely. Stripe Privacy Policy
• Google (Workspace) — we store commission data in Google Sheets and use Google Apps Script to send automated emails. Google Privacy Policy
• Fasthosts — our web hosting provider, based in the UK. Your song files are stored on their servers.
• Anthropic — we use Claude AI to help write song lyrics. Your story is sent to Anthropic's API for this purpose. Anthropic Privacy Policy

We do not sell your personal data to anyone. We do not share it with any other third parties.

5. How long we keep your data

• Commission details — kept for 3 years for accounting and customer service purposes
• Song delivery page play data — kept indefinitely in anonymous, aggregated form
• Marketing consent records — kept until you withdraw consent plus 1 year
• Abandoned session data — deleted after 90 days if no commission is completed

6. Your rights under GDPR

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access — you can request a copy of all data we hold about you
• Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your data (the "right to be forgotten")
• Right to restriction — you can ask us to stop processing your data in certain circumstances
• Right to portability — you can ask for your data in a machine-readable format
• Right to object — you can object to processing based on legitimate interest, including direct marketing
• Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission Ireland.

7. Cookies

SongForYou does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We use only essential session functionality to keep the commission form working as you move through the steps. No cookie consent banner is required for essential cookies under GDPR.

8. Children

SongForYou is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify active customers by email of any significant changes. The date at the top of this page will always show when it was last updated.
